I was wondering how long I have before I can return the ring? Actually, you will never see this ring again because I will never part with it. Here I am again, but I have been remiss. The package arrived several days ago and I never said a word to you. Actually, I was struck dumb by your generosity; I was quite surprised to find two pocket knives in the package--thanks so much! I have indeed found good homes for both of
them. And the white gold chain with the knife and locket are so beautiful. I don't have any other chains with this particular link style, so it looks very distinctive in my collection. I've decided to
keep the original photos in the locket--they really are quite charming (so tiny, too!), and it might spoil the aesthetic experience of the whole ensemble if I put a couple of modern pictures in there.
The sterling chain is fantastic. I really had to see it in three dimensions to fully appreciate the link pattern; I've never seen a silver chain even remotely like it (well, you know how hard it is to
find sterling chains that *don't* have a t-bar, and how often do you see one in a deco style?). I've paired it with a particularly beautiful Waltham open-face that has a blue enameled case with a huge silver horsehead mounted in the middle. Thanks again! Here's to a fabulous 2003--

The malachite is only a couple of shades darker than the green in my watch, and it all looks fabulous. As for the other chain, boy, when you say chunky, you mean it. It's big and bold and isn't dwarfed by the watch, yet it still looks elegant. Best of all, the key fits. And you were good enough to shave the price, too, which I very much appreciate. Got the watch today and it is even more beautiful in person. I cannot put it down and am fascinated that it is so clean and scratch less and shiny after all these years. Thank you for absorbing the shipping and insurance costs. I read your note and will ask my jeweler about that when one of my Walthams comes back from Philadelphia. Tell Ed thanks for sharing his knowledge. He's the only watchmaker I can trust! Oh and so far it is running exactly. By the way - been doing some research and I think the bloodstone ring with the high shoulders and repoussee band may be older than you thought. Maybe more around 1850 - the Grand Revival period - instead of late Victorian.

The watch was here when I got home. It is so shiny and lovely - I feel like it's 1899 and brand new out of the box. It was cold and damp here today and the box sat on the mailbox on my porch all afternoon so I am letting it come up to room temp before winding it. My Waltham is much smaller than this one - only barely an inch and a half in diameter in the case so I will need to get used to the extra heft. I have a 32" rolo that I had converted with two lobster claw clasps so that I could hook both onto the top of my Waltham. This one is much thicker so I might need to find another chain to wear it on. I'm glad you talked me out of buying a 16! If this one is a 6, then what size is my Waltham? A 4? Thank you again - I will wear it proudly and beg people to ask me what time it is!

I've purchased several lockets over the last two years... and, none of them turned out to be "quite it." This locket fills the bill perfectly. Although... ::chuckling:: the shield shape is quite a challenge when cutting photo material... My own photos are however, now safely seated on top of the previous "loved ones."
